How to determine your wage or eligibility class if you are covered by the:
National Benefit Fund
If you work full-time, your benefit level is normally Wage Class I.
If you work part-time, your benefit level is:
- Wage Class I — if you earn 100 percent of the minimum full-time wage; or
- Wage Class II — if you earn at least 60 percent, but less than 100 percent, of the minimum full-time wage; or
- Wage Class III — if you earn less than 60 percent of the minimum full-time wage
National Benefit Fund for Rochester Area Members
- If you work full-time, your benefit level is generally Wage Class I.
If you work part-time, your benefit level is:
- Wage Class I — if you earn 100 percent of the minimum full-time wage
- Wage Class II — if you earn at least 60 percent but less than 100 percent of the minimum full-time wage
- Wage Class III — if you earn less than 60 percent of the minimum full-time wage.
If you are in Wage Class I or II, you are eligible for Family coverage. This means that you, your spouse (or same-sex partner) and your children, if eligible, can receive benefits from the Benefit Fund.
If you are in Wage Class III, only you (the member) can receive benefits. Your spouse (or same-sex partner) and your children are not eligible for coverage from the Benefit Fund.
Greater New York Benefit Fund for New Jersey Area Members
- Eligibility Class I — Full-time members who generally work 35 or more hours per week. Coverage is for you and your family.
- Eligibility Class II — Part-time members who generally work on average between 22 but less than 35 hours per week. Part-time members receive benefits for themselves only. Coverage is for the Member only. There is no dependent coverage provided by the Fund.
- Eligibility Class III — Part-time members who generally work more than 7 hours per week but less than 22 hours per week. Part-time members receive benefits for themselves only. Coverage is for the Member only. There is no dependent coverage provided by the Fund.
Greater New York Benefit Fund
- Eligibility Class I — Family Coverage
If you work full-time, your benefit level is generally Eligibility Class I. If you are in Eligibility Class I, you are eligible for family coverage. This means that you, your spouse and your children, if eligible, can receive benefits from the Benefit Fund.
If you work part time, your benefit level is either:
- Eligibility Class II — Family Coverage
If you work part time, on average more than 60 percent, but less than 100 percent, of a full-time schedule (generally three or four days per week) your benefit level is generally Eligibility Class II. If you are in Eligibility Class II, you are eligible for family coverage. This means that you, your spouse and your children, if eligible, can receive benefits from the Fund. - Eligibility Class III — Member Only Coverage
If you work on average more than 20 percent, but less than 60 percent, of a full-time schedule (generally one or two days per week), your benefit level is generally Eligibility Class III. If you are in Eligibility Class III, only you (the Member) can receive limited benefits. Your spouse and your children are not eligible for coverage from the Benefit Fund.
Note: Contributions are made into the Benefit Fund monthly by Genesis Employers on a per capita basis. Eligibility for Genesis employees is established using four tiers (Member only; Member and Spouse; Member and dependent Children; or Member, Spouse and dependent Children), based upon your Family’s composition and the amount that you elect to contribute toward these benefits through payroll deductions. All Genesis Members are considered Eligibility Class I for purposes of establishing eligibility for benefits.
